In The Water

In the water at New Smyrna Beach with the Ponce De Leon lighthouse in the background. We could get used to this. It was so warm and the water was cool and refreshing after that mile and half hike Mom took us on

Our host, Mary, another Captain friend of Mom's in the water, first with Millie and Molly. They showed us how it was done and then it was our turn.

Ponce De Leon and the Fountain of Youth

The cross marks the site where Menendez de Aviles came ashore in 1565, took ownership for Spain and named the area St Augustine.
the Fountain of Youth, entrance where Ponce De Leon landed in 1513. Wonder if this water works on greys too. Mom drank some and she seems younger so who knows.

Statue of Ponce De Leon in the old market square.

St Augustine

In the historic area of St Augustine. This is St George's street in the heart of the Colonial Spainish Quarter. St Augsutine is the oldest city in America. Founded in 1513 by Ponce De Leon when he was searching for the Fountain of Youth.

Castillo de San Marcos, a Spainish fortress. It is the oldest masonry fort in the US-built 1672-95

San Sebastian Winery in St Augustine. We are on the trail on one winery in each state. Good wine here and we bought some

Sites of St Augustine

The welcome sign-Mom always has to take that picture -she says so she can remember where she was at

a conquistor gurading the gates to the old city

We had to wait for Mom while she looked in the gift shop. We were so good. We saw Mom thru the window, she was watching us to make sure we were being good. WE WERE.

Florida and more

Relaxing in the front yard while Mom is siteseeing. Great view and a cool breeze always seems to be blowing

at the hotel

At the villa on Jeckell Island, lounging before a day's activity begins

Linda feeding us treats so we can begin the day

Eating ice cream. Boy was it good. We had 2 bowls and could have had more but Mom wouldn't let us.

A day at Sandy Paws

It's been a tough 3 days. We have done so much sniffing, walking, meeting new greys, and renewing acquaintances from gatherings past. We all needed a rest. Our Mom's are busy talking and drinking so we are taking a nap to wait the next big sniff
This is my new friend, Stanley, who along with his Mom, Kristen, (also from VAGA) are enjoying Sandy Paws

Sandy Paws at Jekyll Island

On the beach at Jekyell Island, Georgia with greyhound friends.
There is Kristen with Stanley, Allie with Debbie and Sandy with Mom. It was a cold windy day. We were looking for seashells and found a few of them

A close up of all of us

Sandy Paws sponsored by Greyhound Guardians. 500 Greys were in attendance. We were all so well behaved.

Gone With The Wind

Jonesboro, Georgia where Margaret Mitchell was from. Tara was located outside of Jonesboro. GWTW, a great novel, but we were wondering why there were no greyhounds in it. But then all the battles and stuff would have been really scarry for us.

Margaret Mitchell's house in Atlanta. She and her husband rented a small apartment on the first floor.

King Tut and the Warriors of China

King Tut and the Chinese warriers exhibit were fabulous. We had to stay in the room while Mom did the rounds. We were so good. No parking, no crying but we were so happy when Mom came home.

Georgia wineries

Chateau Elan winery in Georgia. Add it to the list of all the wineries and states that we are visiting.

We are in front of the Chateau and a statue of a grape stomper. A beautiful place.

RVing and camping out

resting at the RV site. We have our own ground covering
We are camped at Stone Mountain, Georgia outside of Atlanta.
We are getting ready to get in the coach for dinner. Boy, it is a big "house" We like it

We stayed in our friends RV. A home on wheels. It was so much fun but we slept really good. Kinda of scary going up the steps but we made it

Georgia On Our MInd

We made it to Georgia. Onto Atlanta where Mom enjoyed the sites and we stayed in the hotel room
We were SOOOOOOOO Good.

We have had a tough day, siteseeing, wineries. But we will be rested up by tomorrow

Wally's and Darlings

In front of the Darling cabin. Can you hear the music - they could really make those banjoes sing

Wally's tow truck waiting to help anyone with their car.

Under Arrest

i
In the Mayberry Jail. Don't know it we did something wrong or Mom did but whoever did it, we are all in Jail.. Someone send bail money

Mom is sheriff for a day. Guess we are in big trouble now

Jonathon aka as Barney arrests us. Actually he was our tour guide and showed us all the neat Mayberry stuff. We even got to ride in the back seat with our heads out the window for all to see. What fun

Mt Airy AKA Mayberry

First stop Mt Airy or as it is better known, Mayberry, home of Andy Griffith. The Andy Griffith show was modeled after life in Mr Airy. Here we are with the squad car, replica of one used in the show in front of Wally's service station. TVland donated a statue of Andy and Opie going fishing to the watering hole.
